Hossz\u00fa ideje visszat\u00e9r\u0151 k\u00e9rd\u00e9s a parlament\u00e1ris demokr\u00e1ci\u00e1kban, hogy a kereszt\u00e9ny egyh\u00e1zak lehetnek-e \u00e9s milyen m\u00f3don r\u00e9szesei a politik\u00e1nak, a t\u00e1rsadalmi k\u00f6z\u00e9letnek. Ez a k\u00e9rd\u00e9s sokszor felmer\u00fcl olyan helyzetben is, amikor egy-egy orsz\u00e1gb\u00f3l sz\u00e1rmaz\u00f3 k\u00f6z\u00f6ss\u00e9gek tagjai pr\u00f3b\u00e1lj\u00e1k megtal\u00e1lni hely\u00fcket, boldogul\u00e1sukat egy \u00faj k\u00f6rnyezetben.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kutat\u00e1som \u00e9s el\u0151ad\u00e1som az amerikai (ide \u00e9rtve az Amerikai Egyes\u00fclt \u00c1llamokat, illetve Kanad\u00e1t) magyar nyelv\u0171 r\u00f3mai \u00e9s g\u00f6r\u00f6g katolikus pasztor\u00e1ci\u00f3t vizsg\u00e1lta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Az amerikai magyar katolikus lelkip\u00e1sztorkod\u00e1s hivatalos form\u00e1ban 1892-ben vette kezdet\u00e9t. Ez alatt a t\u00f6bb mint 120 \u00e9v alatt t\u00f6bb mint kilencsz\u00e1z r\u00f3mai \u00e9s g\u00f6r\u00f6g katolikus lelkip\u00e1sztor szolg\u00e1lt Amerik\u00e1ban.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ezek a lelkip\u00e1sztorok sz\u00e1mtalan esetben vettek r\u00e9szt, mint az amerikai magyar, mint pedig a fogad\u00f3 orsz\u00e1g civil k\u00f6z\u00e9let\u00e9ben. Kifejezetten \u00e9rdekes ez a t\u00e9ma amiatt is, mivel az egyik fogad\u00f3 orsz\u00e1got, az Amerikai Egyes\u00fclt \u00c1llamokat a \u201elegvall\u00e1sosabb vall\u00e1stalan\u201d orsz\u00e1gnak is nevezik. Az amerikai alkotm\u00e1ny az orsz\u00e1got \u00fagy hat\u00e1rozza meg, miszerint az egyh\u00e1z(ak) \u00e9s az \u00e1llam sz\u00e9t van v\u00e1lasztva. M\u00e9gis, a vizsg\u00e1lt id\u0151szak alatt a magyar lelkip\u00e1sztorok sz\u00e1mos politikai akci\u00f3ban vettek r\u00e9szt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ez\u00e9rt el\u0151ad\u00e1somban kit\u00e9rek a Katolikus Egyh\u00e1z helyzet\u00e9re az amerikai k\u00f6z\u00e9letben, s ezen bel\u00fcl a magyar papok szerepv\u00e1llal\u00e1s\u00e1ra. Be fogom mutatni az amerikai magyar katolikus szervezeteket, valamint azokat a lelkip\u00e1sztorokat, akik jelent\u0151s szerepet t\u00f6lt\u00f6ttek be mind a magyarorsz\u00e1gi, valamint amerikai, mind pedig az amerikai magyar emigr\u00e1ci\u00f3 t\u00f6rt\u00e9net\u00e9ben.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El\u0151ad\u00e1som f\u0151 c\u00e9lja az, hogy megvizsg\u00e1ljuk ezen szem\u00e9lyeknek a magyarorsz\u00e1gi, illetve az amerikai k\u00f6z\u00e9leti szerepv\u00e1llal\u00e1s\u00e1t, azt a k\u00e9rd\u00e9st, hogy az \u00e1ltal\u00e1nos lelkip\u00e1sztori munk\u00e1n fel\u00fcl milyen m\u00f3don vettek r\u00e9szt a k\u00f6z \u00fcgyeinek int\u00e9z\u00e9s\u00e9ben, alak\u00edt\u00e1s\u00e1ban. A kutat\u00e1s al\u00e1 vont szem\u00e9lyek k\u00f6re k\u00e9t szempontb\u00f3l kapcsol\u00f3dik \u00f6ssze. Az els\u0151, hogy valamennyi\u00fcket papp\u00e1 szentelt\u00e9k a r\u00f3mai, vagy a g\u00f6r\u00f6g katolikus egyh\u00e1z szolg\u00e1lat\u00e1ra, a m\u00e1sodik, hogy szolg\u00e1lati idej\u00fck sor\u00e1n r\u00f6videbb-hosszabb ideig Amerik\u00e1ban szolg\u00e1ltak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El\u0151ad\u00e1som a k\u00f6z\u00e9leti szerepv\u00e1llal\u00e1st k\u00e9t r\u00e9szben vizsg\u00e1lja, az els\u0151 r\u00e9szben \u2013 az \u00e1ltal\u00e1ban \u2013 amerikai tart\u00f3zkod\u00e1st megel\u0151z\u0151 magyarorsz\u00e1gi szerepv\u00e1llal\u00e1st veszi g\u00f3rcs\u0151 al\u00e1 (melynek sok esetben k\u00f6vetkezm\u00e9nye lett a k\u00e9s\u0151bbi amerikai tart\u00f3zkod\u00e1s), a m\u00e1sodik r\u00e9szben pedig a m\u00e1r kinti szerepv\u00e1llal\u00e1st vizsg\u00e1lom, annak esetleges magyarorsz\u00e1gi reakci\u00f3ival egy\u00fctt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Be szeretn\u00e9m mutatni a politiz\u00e1l\u00f3, a tan\u00edt\u00f3, az \u00fajs\u00e1g\u00edr\u00f3, valamint azon papok t\u00f6rt\u00e9net\u00e9t, akik az emberis\u00e9get egy-egy tal\u00e1lm\u00e1nnyal gazdag\u00edtott\u00e1k.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00dagy gondolom, hogy el\u0151ad\u00e1sommal r\u00e1 tudok vil\u00e1g\u00edtani egy olyan k\u00f6z\u00f6ss\u00e9g helyt\u00e1ll\u00e1s\u00e1ra, melynek papjai gyakran nagyon neh\u00e9z helyzetben \u00e1lltak, s \u00e1llnak helyt. Rem\u00e9lem, hogy el\u0151ad\u00e1sommal m\u00e9lt\u00f3k\u00e9ppen eml\u00e9kezhetek meg ezekr\u0151l a lelkip\u00e1sztorokr\u00f3l, akiket ma m\u00e1r itthon, s Amerik\u00e1ban is nagyr\u00e9szt elfelejtettek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Participation of American-Hungarian Roman Catholic and Byzantine Pastors in American Public Life<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For a long time it is a returning question in parliamentary democracies if the christian churches can take part in politics and social public life and in what form. This question presents itself also in situations, when members of communities from foreign countries want to find their place and success in their new surroundings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In my research and lecture I am studying the parish life of American-Hungarian Roman Catholic and Byzantine Churches in the United States and Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The American-Hungarian Catholic pastorate started officially in 1892. During these more then 120 years over nine hundred Roman Catholic and Byzantine priests served in America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Numerous times these pastors took part in the public and social life of American-Hungarian communities as well as of the host country. This subject is quiet interesting because one host countries, the United States is considered as the \u201cmost religious irreligious country\u201d. The US constitution emphasizes the separation of State and Church. Nevertheless, during the studied period the Hungarian pastors took part in numerous political actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In my lecture therefore I do mention the situation of the Roman Catholic Church in American public life, as well as the participation of Hungarian pastors in the same. I shall present the American-Hungarian Catholic societies and those pastors who played a significant role in the history of Hungary, America and American-Hungarian communities in exile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main purpose of my lecture is to examine the participation of these persons in the public life of Hungary and America, as well as the question to what degree did they take part in the administration and shaping of public life besides their everyday pastoral work. The circle of the researched persons connect in two ways. First, all of them were ordained to serve the Roman Catholic or Byzantine Church, second, during their time of service they all worked for a longer of shorter period in America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In my presentation I investigate their participation in public life in two parts: in the first part – in general – I examine the participation in public life before their American residence (which many times had as a consequence their American stay); in the second part I examine their public work overseas together with possible reactions from Hungary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I would like to present the history of the pastors, who took part in politics, were teaching, worked as newsmen, or even enriched humanity with various inventions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am sure, through my lecture I shall be able to highlight the steadfastness of communities whose unwavering pastors were and are in very difficult situations. With my presentation I hope I shall remember these pastors  deservedly, who are mostly forgotten here and also in the United States and Canada.<\/p>\n ","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
